Complete Stump Removal

Complete Stump Removal

Why choose complete stump removal vs grinding? Some people might be hesitant to remove the entire stump choosing instead the more economical approach of simply grinding the stump to below the soil level. Grinding the stump is a good solution in lower trafficked areas or when little disturbance to the soil is wanted, but leaving the stump can cause issues down the road. The remaining stump and roots will eventually decay creating voids. Complete stump removal is needed if any construction will occur on the land or you will run the risk of experiencing foundation issues. While the soil will be displaced during the stump removal, filling the hole is an easy fix after the stump is extracted. If you need help getting a lot ready to build your dream home or business, we can help. We have experience in this area and will respond quickly to meet with you on your lot to determine the best solution to prepare for construction.

ADCO Forestry cleared a 1500 foot fence line that included a variety of trees to allow the home owners to install a new fence. All of the stumps were removed to ensure that new fence posts could be easily driven into the ground. Our equipment is heavy enough to replace and compact the soil. In a matter of days, the holes were filled and the land was completely flat leaving a perfect area for fence installation. The newly turned up soil quickly grew grass. We received multiple comments saying that they could not believe the change. The overgrown fence hadn’t been maintained for at least 30 years. The homeowner now has a beautiful view, more sunlight, and less rodents.

We also had the pleasure of removing multiple stumps in a field that were a headache when it came time to mow. The homeowner was thrilled with the result saying his field now looks like a park! If you’re tired of mowing around the stumps, give us a call.

Another reason to consider complete stump removal is to eliminate the potential risk for termites. Even if the stump is below the soil level, termites could find it and go unnoticed until it’s too late and you have an infestation on your hands. Termites aren’t the only critters that enjoy rotting stumps. Poisonous snakes and stinging insects are often encountered during the stump removal process.

It’s important to keep in mind that complete stump removal might not always be feasible depending on the location of utilities. It’s extremely important to have the utilities marked before any work begins.

Complete stump removal might seem excessive or overwhelming, but it might be the best option to avoid issues in the future. Any land disruption is temporary and we do try to leave as much soil as possible by allowing the mud on the stumps to dry. Once dried, the dirt will be removed from the extracted stump and compacted back into the ground to create a level area. We’d love to meet with you to discuss your plans and create a solution to meet your needs.
